Federal Government Debt Per Household? $546,668

Federal Government Debt Per Household? $546,668.

Yay.

The above figure is absolutely unnecessary and will probably bring our country to its knees.

Imagine if the government had taken the opposite position and started being fiscally responsible, being stingy with our money.  Taking in less of it through tax breaks, stimulating consumer spending.  The heading above would never come to pass.

Nebraska was one of the few states who took this approach as the impending recession loomed on the horizon.  The result, we had a surplus and are weathering the storm very nicely.  No huge cut backs.  The same philosophy is possible on a federal level.  Unfortunately, political agendas and power hungry politicians have gotten in the way of what is best for our country and our children.

Passing on this debt to them is irresponsible.
