Obama and the Weather Underground

Could you imagine if a Republican had similar contacts with an individual?  The sky would fall.  This was originally posted a week ago.

Hotair has a good run down of Obama’s recent association with William Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn, two domestic terrorists from the 60’s.  It is incredibly bad judgment to find yourself in the same room with two such individuals unless of course, you are sympathetic to their plight.

The FBI classifies the Weather Underground as a terrorist group.  As such, you can be sure there are a high number of classified files stored and possibly current cases being worked against the group.  Obama as the commander in chief, will not necessarily have a “need to know” or access to the files but he will be in control of an agency that stands on the front lines against domestic terror groups.  How enthusiastic will he support the FBI as it monitors and disrupts his panel speaking buddies?

Update:  Judging by the traffic this post is getting below is a quote and story that might interest those reading about Obama and the Weather Underground.  It is related to McCain and how he has used this issue in the campaign.

McCain had his chance back in April when the North Carolina Republican Party ran a gubernatorial campaign ad that included the linking of Obama with Jeremiah Wright. The ad was duly denounced by the New York Times and other deep thinkers as racist.

This was patently absurd. Racism is treating people differently and invidiously on the basis of race. Had any white presidential candidate had a close 20-year association with a white preacher overtly spreading race hatred from the pulpit, that candidate would have been not just universally denounced and deemed unfit for office but written out of polite society entirely.

Nonetheless, John McCain in his infinite wisdom, and with his overflowing sense of personal rectitude, joined the braying mob in denouncing that perfectly legitimate ad, saying it had no place in any campaign. In doing so, McCain unilaterally disarmed himself, rendering off-limits Obama’s associations, an issue that even Hillary Clinton addressed more than once.

Obama’s political career was launched with Ayers giving him a fundraiser in his living room. If a Republican candidate had launched his political career at the home of an abortion-clinic bomber — even a repentant one — he would not have been able to run for dogcatcher in Podunk. And Ayers shows no remorse. His only regret is that he “didn’t do enough.”

Why are these associations important? Do I think Obama is as corrupt as Rezko? Or shares Wright’s angry racism or Ayers’s unreconstructed 1960s radicalism?

No. But that does not make these associations irrelevant. They tell us two important things about Obama.

Read the whole thing.

“As such, you can be sure there are a high number of classified files stored and possibly current cases being worked against the group.”

You clearly have no idea who the weathermen were or have become if you made this statement… their only connection comes from being invited to different intellectual panels as speaking guests which Obama was invited to as well. In fact William Ayer among many others from the group is now a Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, so it makes sense that he would be invited to an educational discussion you ignorant twit.

Try reading up on a group or a subject before you do what all the buffoons over at Fox do by calling everyone with a dissenting opinion a terrorist.

I work domestic and international terrorism. I can guarantee I know a lot more then you on the weather underground, their history, their tactics, their membership and their efforts to undermine the government with violent terrorist tactics. This organization was one of the first domestic terrorist groups in the United States. They began as a group, after splitting from the Revolutionary Youth Movement. They were different from other groups in that they insisted a revolutionary war against the United States and Capitalism should start immediately.

It is poor judgment for Obama to participate in anything these people are involved with without condemning their past tactics. (which he did not do.) Both Dohrn and Ayers have not distanced themselves from their past or shown any desire to condemn the tactics they used. In fact both talk with nostalgia over what they did.

Being a professor does not give you a pass on ethics. You make it sound like that is justification for his moral character. That is an illogical argument.

Name calling will also get you nowhere. You assume I am ignorant. That statement says more about you than me. I would be happy to discuss the issue with you but again, I doubt you are capable of having an intelligent discussion without resorting to name calling, a tactic I see often from the left and one I have never condoned from those on the right. In short, it smacks of intellectual ignorance to call others names just because you don’t agree.

I saw ONE link coming into this web site from

Turns out it is a web site with a great many pro Obama people on it. They all have a lot to say about several stories, one of which is this one posted. Yet it appears only ONE person actually read the post. Another criticizes me for the spelling of Ayers name calling it “journalism”. Psst….I am not a journalist, never claimed to be, don’t want to be and realize I am not the greatest with grammar.

What is scary is that there is so much ignorance on the web site. One individual goes down the list of Bush “crimes.” Calling him a cocaine addict (Obama’s used), Having dinner with Bin Laden’s Family (Yes, the same family that disowned him) and stealing the election (Even the most liberal paper has conceded Bush one.) Living in a world where individuals take reality out of context is a dangerous thing.

Nobody seems concerned about Obama’s associations. I don’t know Obama so I have to do the next best thing, look at who he associates with. By doing this I hope to get a glimpse into his moral foundation. I hope to be able to determine his ethical base. Speaking only for myself, I would never knowingly associate with people like Ayers. To hold my president to a lesser standard then myself would by hypocritical. In fact, I could be held accountable at my job for associating with an individual like Ayers.

Ayers is not a harmless association in my opinion. He is an unrepentant domestic terrorist who I would not associate with. Obama does not hold those same standards of association.

ya i thionk is so messed upo that known terrorists/murderers/forgers like Dorhn and Ayers could still be free and still spew their ridiculous hate. My cousin William Moroney was a victim of their stupidity. Obama was and Is connected to these murdering Bombers whetther he wants to admit the full extent or not. he wants to prosecute the GOP for brininging up his ties. how about he explain where he was on June 2, 1981, when Husweein obama was 20 years old and when my cousin was murdered in the first Brinks Armored car robbery/murder?
